What's cold process soap?

All our soaps are handmade from scratch and they are produced in small batches. They are cold processed to retain all of the natural goodness of the natural ingredients and slowly cured for several weeks. Cold Process Soap making is a process of adding fats to sodium hydroxide and the resulting reaction, called saponification, produces soap and glycerine. The glycerine remains in the soap and the reaction continues for many days after the soap is poured into moulds.

The cold process method is typically used by small artisans and hobbyists producing handmade decorative soaps and similar.

Cold process soap is far gentler than commercial soaps and far superior to the Glycerine Soaps. It has also been found to have a beneficial effect on skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Commercial soap makers remove the glycerine that is left in the handmade variety, this gives store bought soap a longer shelf life but detracts from its natural emollient qualities.

Our handmade soaps are softer in texture than machine produced soaps and non drying for the skin due to the high natural oil content. All our soaps are made using the finest ingredients like jojoba, avocado oil, plum kernel oil and olive oil. None of our soap bars contain SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) or are animal tested so you can feel confident in choosing any of them.
